Five printers, one dream

Growing in ProtoWorks means buying better printers, so we're building a Printer Shop with five tiers.

The line-up

The concept art above shows the range: a small open printer, a larger open printer and then ever bigger enclosed machines with their own control screen. The shapes, the orange and the black edges repeat across the range, so you recognise them as one family straight away.

What already works

• A showroom in the existing Printer Shop, with a catalogue.
• Higher tiers are unlocked through research.
• You confirm a purchase, carry the printer home in your van and set it up. It stays in your save.
• New games start without a printer. You buy your first one yourself.

What isn't right yet

The tier 2 to 4 models were made with Meshy but are still fairly heavy. The first tier 5 attempt lost its characteristic shape, so we didn't use it. A few days later we redesigned the whole range. More on that on 27 September.
