In a game about mowing, the lawn is the main character. So that is where we started.

Every blade counts

Each area is a grid of grass cells, from 10 cm cells in the backyard up to 10 m cells on the biggest fields. When your blade sweeps over a cell it is cut exactly once, and the edge of your path keeps a partial coverage, so cut lines stay smooth instead of turning into staircases.

Real stripes

The shade of each cut cell follows the direction you drove on your last pass. Drive up, then back down, and you get those satisfying alternating stripes you see on football pitches.

Built to scale

The field is rendered in chunks of 128 × 128 cells, and only chunks that change are redrawn. That keeps even huge lawns smooth.

Regrow

Once an area is 90 % done, the rest is credited, you get a completion bonus and a regrow wave rolls across the field so you can go again. (We also fixed a bug where that wave skipped part of the field.)

Next time: the ten lawns you will be mowing.
