Apart from your printers humming away, the world of ProtoWorks used to be completely silent. Walk outside and... nothing. That made the town feel like a film set. Not anymore.
Day and night
During the day you now hear a soft suburban background: wind gusting through the trees and traffic somewhere far away. Birds call around you, every few seconds from a different direction. When the sun goes down the sound fades into the night: a quiet breeze and two crickets having a conversation.
Step inside your garage, a shop or your own workshop and the outside world becomes muffled, with a calm room tone instead. It is a small thing, but walking from the street into your workshop now actually feels like going inside.
When you pause the game or read your day report, the world holds its breath with you.
A real sound menu
Settings now has a proper sound menu with three sliders that work while you drag them: Master, Sound effects and Music. Want quiet printers but loud birds? Almost: printers and the world share the effects slider for now.
The music slider is ready, but the radio is still empty. Music is coming.
To be fair
All these sounds are generated by the game itself for now. Real recordings can replace them one by one, and we are curious which ones you will notice first.
