Finish the campaign and your shop is a real business. But then what? That question kept us busy for a while. Our answer: the City Year.
Four seasons
The city now has a calendar of its own: a year of four seasons, each fourteen days long. Every season brings its own events. The square gets a Christmas tree that needs a star, there is a Spooky Night, a Summer Parade and the big Maker Faire. Every festival asks for something specific, and you decide whether you take on the challenge.
Knock knock
Sometimes someone just rings your doorbell. A student who needs a gift, an influencer with 210k followers looking for something special, a neighbour with a broken part. Bring them the right product and they will remember you.
Every Saturday there is the Saturday Market, where you can sell your stuff from a stall and haggle with visitors. And there are chances and setbacks: a good review, a storm, a sudden rush.
Keeping track
Everything comes together on the noticeboard in town and on your new ProtoPhone, with an agenda, messages and the local paper, the Maker Gazette. A small strip on your screen shows the date and the next event.
A rival
You are not alone anymore. RapidForm is a rival print shop that undercuts your prices every week, and at some point they will even try to buy you out. Will you sell?
To be fair
This is a playtest version. Everything you see in town is still made of simple shapes, the numbers are not tuned yet and the text is English only. But it already feels like a living city, and that was exactly the goal.
